20 November 2025 - Lisbon today launched its new city-wide reusable cup system, “CopoMais Lisboa.” The brand name “CopoMais” indicates that it is more than just a sturdier cup – it’s a part of system that enables circularity and makes reuse convenient, efficient and traceable. It is also a system that gives the user back the deposit paid when buying a beverage in one of the participating bars.

30 June 2025 - Landmark partnership between the City of Lisbon, TOMRA and the Portuguese hospitality association AHRESP aims to cut litter and emissions with smart deposit return system. The system could remove thousands of littered cups from Lisbon's public spaces - every night.

30 January 2025 - Lisbon will test an innovative cup reuse system in locations such as Bairro Alto, Bica, and Cais do Sodré. The pilot project includes the installation of 17 automatic return machines, known as reverse vending.
